20" vintage white-coated Drop-T logo bass drumhead. The Ludwig and Beatles logo are painstakingly hand painted as the original. This style head was used on Ringo's second Ludwig Oyster Black Pearl Downbeat kit and is historically correct. This is the drum head that was seen by 73 million people when The Beatles first appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show, February 9, 1964. VINTAGE means that the head was given an aged look to match what a 50 year old drum head would look like today.
All reproductions of the Beatles "Drop-T" Sullivan Drumhead are the result of a direct reflective tracing method using the original head (in Russ’s possession) as its basis. It is completely handmade using the same flat tempora paints as the original and on the same white 20" outer-coated drumhead. The result is an exact identical match to the original logo drumhead used by the Beatles for the February, 1964, Ed Sullivan Show.
Each head is meticulously recreated by Russ Lease, internationally known as the authority on The Beatles drumheads. Russ was commissioned to recreate drumheads for each of Ringo's four original Ludwig Oyster Black Pearl drum kits during their preservation and documentation in 2013 & 2014.
Please know that we are offering the drumhead with the graphic artwork only.
